Aramid Crepe Paper & Tubes

Aramid Crepe Paper & Tubes

Creped aramid papers and tubes designed for wire wrapping, lead outlets, and insulating irregular shapes. Provides high flexibility and conforms to complex geometries under winding stress.

Priced per requirement — tell us grade, width, thickness and quantity and we quote against it.

Typical values for this material class, given as a guide. The datasheet carries the property table, test methods and tolerances for the grade and is the governing document.

Overview

Creped aramid paper is meta-aramid that has been mechanically gathered during manufacture, giving the sheet a fine corrugation and, with it, a great deal of stretch. A flat paper tears when forced around a tight radius; a creped one elongates and conforms.

That single property is why it exists. Lead outlets, coil ends, cable transitions and any part of a winding that is not a flat plane are difficult to insulate with sheet material. Creped paper wraps them without splitting, and keeps the same thermal class while doing it.

Where flat paper stops working

Use creped paper and tubes where geometry, not voltage, is the limiting factor:

  • Wrapping conductors and leads that change direction
  • Insulating joints, transitions and irregular shapes
  • Building up thickness on a curved surface without wrinkling
  • Wound tubes for lead exits and spacer applications

Key properties

  • High elongation — conforms to tight radii and irregular shapes
  • Continuous service at 180 °C (Class H), used to 220 °C
  • Takes up varnish readily along the crepe
  • Inherently flame resistant
  • Supplied as reels, tapes and wound tubes
  • Chemically stable in transformer oil

Applications

Lead insulation

Wrapping lead-out conductors and cable transitions in transformers and machines.

Coil ends

Insulating end-windings and connections where the geometry is not flat.

Wound tubes

Lead exit tubes, spacers and formers.

Repair and rewind

Insulating irregular assemblies during overhaul where sheet material cannot be made to sit down.

Standards and compliance

  • UL recognised component — certification held by the manufacturer
  • CE marked
  • RoHS compliant
  • REACH compliant
  • Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015

Certificates of conformity and mill test certificates are supplied with each shipment. Third-party testing can be arranged on request where a specification demands independent verification.

Sizes, packing and supply

  • Form: reels, slit tapes and wound tubes
  • Width: slit to requirement
  • Tubes: to internal diameter, wall thickness and length on request

Quality and inspection

Every consignment is inspected before shipment and supplied with its mill certificate. For repeat programmes we hold the approved specification on file so a reorder repeats a known outcome rather than reopening the conversation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does creped paper stretch?

Substantially more than flat aramid paper — enough to wrap tight radii without tearing. The datasheet gives the elongation figure for the grade.

Can it be varnished?

Yes, and it takes varnish readily. The crepe structure holds impregnant well.

What tube sizes can you supply?

Tubes are wound to your internal diameter, wall thickness and length. Send the dimensions and we will quote.

Is the thermal class the same as flat aramid paper?

Yes — same fibre, same Class H rating, used in Class R systems. Creping changes the mechanical behaviour, not the thermal.

Can you supply it as a slit tape?

Yes, slit to the width you need for wrapping.

Next step

Tell us the size and quantity

Send the thickness, slit width and annual volume for https://aramidpapers.com/wp-content/themes/aramidpapers and we come back with a costed offer, a firm lead time and the mill certificate you will receive with it.

Tell us the size and quantity

Tell us the grade, thickness, width and quantity. We come back with a costed offer and the datasheet, and say plainly if anything will not work.

We reply the same working day. Your details are used to answer this enquiry and nothing else.
