YT7540 Aramid Felt

YT7540 Aramid Felt

Needled aramid felt for thermal barrier, cushioning and end-winding support. Compressible under winding tension, resilient at 220°C — used where rigid sheet paper is too stiff.

Priced per requirement — tell us grade, width, thickness and quantity and we quote against it.

Overview

YT7540 is a needled aramid felt — fibre mechanically entangled into a thick, compressible mat rather than formed into a sheet. It is used where insulation has to fill a space, take up tolerance or cushion a component, and where a rigid paper would simply not conform.

Because it compresses under load and springs back, it is well suited to end-winding support and to packing that must stay in contact as a machine heats, cools and vibrates through service.

Where sheet material cannot go

  • Compressible — takes up manufacturing tolerance and stays in contact under thermal movement
  • Resilient at temperature — recovers rather than taking a permanent set at 220 °C
  • Thermal barrier — the trapped air in the felt structure is what does the insulating
  • Cushioning — protects components from vibration and mechanical contact

Key properties

  • Needled aramid fibre construction
  • Compressible under winding tension, resilient at 220 °C
  • Thermal barrier and cushioning in one material
  • Conforms to irregular surfaces and fills voids
  • Inherently flame resistant, does not melt
  • Chemically stable

Applications

End-winding support

Packing and support in machine end-windings, holding position through thermal cycling.

Thermal barriers

Heat shielding between components and around hot assemblies.

Cushioning

Protecting components from vibration and mechanical contact.

Gap filling

Taking up tolerance where a rigid material would not seat.

Standards and compliance

  • UL recognised component — certification held by the manufacturer
  • CE marked
  • RoHS compliant
  • REACH compliant
  • Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015

Certificates of conformity and mill test certificates are supplied with each shipment. Third-party testing can be arranged on request where a specification demands independent verification.

Sizes, packing and supply

  • Form: rolls and cut sheets
  • Thickness and areal weight: to requirement
  • Cut parts: die-cut to drawing on request

Quality and inspection

Every consignment is inspected before shipment and supplied with its mill certificate. For repeat programmes we hold the approved specification on file so a reorder repeats a known outcome rather than reopening the conversation.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it compress?

It is designed to compress under winding tension and recover. The datasheet gives the compression and recovery figures for the grade.

Does it take a permanent set at temperature?

It is chosen precisely because it stays resilient at 220 °C rather than collapsing. That is the difference between an aramid felt and a lower-temperature alternative.

Can it be die-cut?

Yes. Send the drawing and we will quote tooling and parts.

Is it a thermal insulator or an electrical one?

Both, but it is usually specified for thermal barrier and mechanical support. Where dielectric strength governs, a paper or laminate is the right material.

Can it be impregnated?

It takes up resin readily given its open structure. Tell us the system and we will advise.

Next step

Tell us the size and quantity

Send the thickness, slit width and annual volume for https://aramidpapers.com/wp-content/themes/aramidpapers and we come back with a costed offer, a firm lead time and the mill certificate you will receive with it.

Tell us the size and quantity

Tell us the grade, thickness, width and quantity. We come back with a costed offer and the datasheet, and say plainly if anything will not work.

We reply the same working day. Your details are used to answer this enquiry and nothing else.
