Overview
YT564 is a calendered aramid paper made specifically as a base ply for laminates. Its surface is prepared for adhesion rather than for handling: the finish is controlled so that adhesive wets and keys into it consistently across the web.
In a flexible laminate the bond between paper and film is the weakest point of the construction. A base paper with an inconsistent surface produces a laminate that delaminates at the edges after thermal cycling. YT564 exists to remove that variable.
A base material, not a finished insulation
YT564 is generally bought by laminators rather than by winding shops. If you are insulating a motor directly, YT510 or YT56 is more likely what you want; if you are manufacturing NMN, NHN or similar composite structures, YT564 is the ply to build on.
It is the base paper behind the AM, APA, AH and AHA laminates we supply, so if you would rather buy the finished laminate than make it, those are the same material one step further along.

Frequently asked questions
Can YT564 be used directly as slot insulation?
It can, but it is not what the grade is for. It is optimised for bonding, and you would be paying for a surface treatment the application does not use. YT510 is the better choice for direct use.
What adhesives does it bond with?
The common laminating adhesives used with aramid papers. If you have a specific system, tell us and we will confirm compatibility before you commit to a trial.
Do you supply master reels?
Yes. Tell us the core size, reel diameter and winding tension you need.
Can you supply the finished laminate instead?
Yes — AM, APA, AH and AHA are built on this paper. If you would rather buy the laminate than make it, those are the equivalent finished products.
Is the surface treatment visible?
Not to the eye. It shows up in bond strength testing, which is where an inconsistent base paper causes trouble.
